Massage Therapy Students/Faculty offer Free Massages On Mother's Day

May 5, 2010

WHAT: To provide mothers a little stress relief and relaxation on Mother’s Day, students from the Advanced Massage Therapy program at Sanford-Brown College (SBC) – Cleveland will be offering free, 20-minute chair massages to the public at the Big Creek Run on May 9 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The participating students are in the clinical phase of their education, so they have training in massage, as well as experience performing massages. Licensed Sanford-Brown College faculty members will be on hand to supervise the student therapists, as well as give massages.

Although in honor of mothers, the massages are not just for moms. Runners, spectators, mothers, fathers and all race participants are invited to take part in the free massages. No appointment needed – massages are first come, first serve.

The SBC students will collect voluntary donations for the massages to support the Big Creek Run and its benefiting programs. Sanford-Brown is also donating water for the event, which includes 350 bottles of water for runners.

WHEN: Sunday, May 9, 2010 - 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

WHO: Alise Excell, Director of Advanced Massage Therapy Program at Sanford-Brown College and Christine Laudato, Clinical Coordinator of Sanford-Brown College – Cleveland

WHERE: The Big Creek Run in Middleburgh Heights. The race starts at the Middleburgh Heights Community Recreation Center at 16000 Bagley Road. Massages will be located in the Pavilion.
