Career Services Week-o-Fun

Monday, April 8 – 12:30-1:30PM and 2:30-3:30PM - Burning Glass - Nikki Devin, our own SBC student will show you how to integrate “Burning Glass,” a career exploration website, into your job search techniques. You will have the opportunity to participate in the session and will learn hands on tools which will enhance your job search techniques in resume creation, interviewing tips & background information about perspective employers.

Tuesday, April 9 12:30-2:00PM - How Did They Get that Job Anyway? - Career Services hosts a panel discussion consisting of SBC Alumni and three of our most important and sought after Employers: Hartford Hospital, Hospital of Central Connecticut and Charter Oak Health Center. The topics of discussion will be transitioning from college to the workforce, listening to our graduates’ success stories about their career as well as their personal achievements. Our employers will talk about the world of work including hiring tips from an employers’ perspective.

Wednsday, April 10 6:00-7:00PM - Get Ready, Get Set, Interview and SBC Alumnus says Hello Events - Guest speaker, Lee Amaya, a job placement professional will talk about the importance of networking; developing and maintaining contacts and personal connections with a variety of people who might be helpful to you. He will also share with you what employers look for when they interview. Our alumnus will share their success stories about their career as well as their personal achievements.

Thursday, April 11 2:30-3:30PM - “You are What You Tweet”: Managing Your On-line Presence - Social media works!! One of our own SBC students, Mark Rinehart will teach “newbies” old and new how to make the best use of social media for job searching and networking.
