Sanford Brown Cleveland White CaneOn Saturday June 15th over 40 SBC Cleveland students participated in the Cleveland Sight Center’s annual White Cane Walk held at the Legacy Village outdoor shopping plaza. This annual fundraising event provides support services for people in the community who are blind or visually impaired, while increasing awareness of the White Cane law designed to protect them. Participants had the opportunity to use a white cane while walking blindfolded through Legacy Village with the assistance of a sighted guide partner. Students spent the day volunteering as greeters, pre-school vision screeners and sighted guide partners. SB college students represented the largest volunteer group participating in this worthwhile event. This was a culmination of the work done by the students for the sight center which included doing pre-school vision screenings at over 20 pre-schools, screening over 1000 pre-schoolers during the 2012-13 school year.
