Senior Admissions Representative Shantelle Sinclair and Admissions Representative Anna Figueroa. On Monday, February 02, 2015, the SBC Ft. Lauderdale Medical Assisting Department visited the local LA Fitness and provided wellness screenings to gym members which included blood pressure checks and glucose blood tests.

Medical Assisting Student Melissa Seavey noticed that one of the patients had high blood pressure. She notified the Medical Assisting Program Director Clyde Ramsumair about the issue. The patient mentioned that he had a headache, and Mr. Ramsumair encouraged the gentleman to visit a hospital immediately.

The American Heart Association notes that “high blood pressure often does its damage without creating symptoms, but when blood pressure numbers rise above 180 for the systolic pressure or 110 for the diastolic pressure, you need emergency treatment” (2015, para. 4).

Medical Assisting Student Melissa Seavey, Medical Assisting Program Director Clyde Ramsumair, and Senior Executive Admissions Representative Debra SweetingThree members of the Admissions Department accompanied the Medical Assisting Department in order to collect PDIs and talk with gym members about the academic programs at the campus. The following Admissions staff attended this event: Senior Executive Admissions Representative Debra Sweeting, Senior Admissions Representative Shantelle Sinclair, and Admissions Representative Anna Figueroa.
