Certificate Program in Central Service and Sterile Processing Technician

If you are organized, pride yourself in your attention to detail and are looking to become a healthcare professional, a career as a Central Service and Sterile Processing Technician could be for you. Central Service and Sterile Processing Technicians are responsible for preparing and sterilizing equipment and supplies for use in the operating suites and nursing units of hospitals and clinics.

In addition, they may be involved in preparing packages of equipment for specialty procedures such as angiograms and heart valve replacements. Technicians are also responsible for processing and storing the equipment and instrumentation in central supply — the main inventory storage area of the hospital — so that it is available as needed. As a student in the Central Service and Sterile Processing Technician program, you will be trained to clean, sterilize and prepare medical supplies, instrumentation, medical devices and equipment for patient care in a variety of healthcare settings.

By the time you graduate, you should have the skills necessary to play an essential role, working in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
