Sanford Brown New York City students bring kids to Wellness WeekThe theme of this year’s Family Wellness Week was focused on children so Sanford-Brown New York City took the opportunity to engage the family members of our current student body. Last week, students were invited to participate in a special raffle that would enable them to bring their kids to their “home away from home” and not only see what they, as students, do all day but also have a special wellness program specifically designed for them. Ten students were chosen for each days activity which involved presentations for their child on nutrition and proper diet, blood and hematology, drugs and prescription filling, and even an ultrasound session on the body and cardiovascular functions. Kids received some special gifts for participating including a SB Teddy Bear, a pedometer, coloring books, and a jump rope to help promote fitness and general well being.

Setting the right tone for diet, fitness, and general wellness at an early age is one of the program objectives. Mohammed Peerzade, Sanford-Brown NYC’s Manager of Education, who helped coordinate the majority of the events, stated “It was a very special day for most of our students children… they really enjoyed the program , especially the scanning in the ultrasound lab”.

“You can see the sparkle in these kids eyes from the time they first arrived at the beginning of the day” stated Campus President Gary Apito. “Getting a chance to bring our students together with their kids in a program such is this provided an experience that both student and child will remember for a very long time”.

Activities for wellness week continue through the weekend. SB Instructors involved in these events are Natelle Pollidore, Petulah Quammie, Dr. Juanito Malana, Tracee Seals, Dr. Thomas Joseph, Dr. Romeo Pastor, and Maksuda Mannan.
