Mass Casualty Drill – Meth Lab Explosion Simulation

Rescue Squads from Bucks County and The Bucks County EMS office visited Sanford-Brown Institute in Trevose to observe and participate in a simulation Mass Casualty Drill where a mock meth lab explosion will take place. With the assistance of Jeryl Degideo and the Bucks County Emergency Health Services office, SBI’s paramedic students will be treating 9 patients from the explosion were triaged, treated and moved to waiting ambulances. The paramedic students were able to gain valuable, hands-on experience as part of their comprehensive curriculum and the patients, other students from SBI, were able to use the experience as a service learning opportunity. Thanks to Joel Rutkowski and Todd Vreeland for putting together this event and creating opportunities for our students to expand their knowledge and experiences in an exciting way.
