Service Learning activities at SBC – Grand Rapids for the month of June ended with a moving collaboration. The Michigan Blood/MIBlood Drives held at the campus have been very successful and the individual donations as a result a great benefit to the community and donor banks. Service activities for the campus with MIBlood include the Bone Marrow Drive held June 21, the Blood Drive hosted on June 29; an upcoming Blood Drive is scheduled for August 29 and a Bone Marrow Drive for a September date to be announced.
A major contributor to this collaborative effort and the event being hosted on campus is Ms. Tricia Meeks a Medical Assisting instructor at SBC – Grand Rapids; specifically the campus drives to date have been open to the public. Instructor Meek’s assistance in event coordinating was truly a commitment to the school’s service mission. The day’s activity with students engaged in Service Learning and more than 48 donor participates is all about dedication and a great commitment to ‘giving which saves lives’.
