On July 26, 2010, Sanford-Brown Institute, White Plains, hosted a presentation to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Donna Ponessa, an RN living with a disability, came in and spoke to our students about “a day in the life” of a person living with a disability. Donna, who has devics disease, a form of MS, spoke to our students about the importance of quality care and passion for what you do in the healthcare industry. Students were afforded an opportunity to engage in a question and answer session with Donna and took away valuable information on the importance of being the best medical professional you can be for the sake of your patients and the betterment of the healthcare industry. Ms. Ponessa was also gracious enough to do a mini session with many members of our staff and faculty.
