The Black Barbershop Health Outreach Program

Visiting a barbershop in New York on Saturday, October 30th, 2010 could mean more than getting a haircut. It might save your life. Sanford-Brown Institute – New York is partnering with the Back Barbershop Health Outreach Program (BBHOP), a unique, grassroots approach to health screening and education, to hold screenings at more than 30 barbershops in Harlem, Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Bronx on Saturday, October 30th, from 11 a.m. to   4 p.m.

Sixty students from the Medical Assistant program at SBI – New York will be spread out among the various locations and will provide blood pressure screenings, glucose and diabetes testing, conduct health surveys and provide information on prostate screenings.
