March 16, 2010
PHOENIX, ARIZ. (March 16, 2010) – Collins College, Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and Sanford-Brown College are pleased to announce the first-ever "High Noon Chili Shoot-Out," to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Phoenix. The chili cook-off, which is open to the public, will be held Saturday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rawhide Western Town and Steakhouse at Wild Horse Pass, located at 5700 West North Loop Road in Chandler.
Members of the community, including amateur and professional chefs, are invited to compete. All chili must be prepared on-site and will be judged in one of three categories: red chili with beans; red chili without beans and an open category. Registration for amateur cooks will be $40 and professional cooks/chefs, who cook at a resort or restaurant, will have a $100 registration fee.
"We hope to have more than 200 contestants competing for the honor of High Noon Chili Shoot-Out champion," said Christine Murphy, president of Collins College. "This event is a tremendous example of our local colleges coming together for an important cause."
The public can enjoy all-you-can-eat samples of chili for $5, with all proceeds benefitting the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House provides a "home away from home" for children and their families who travel to Phoenix to receive treatment for serious, often life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
