Sanford-Brown College moves to new location
May 24, 2010
HOUSTON (May 24, 2010) – The Sanford-Brown College (SBC) Houston campus, which provides education in allied healthcare and related fields designed to prepare its graduates for employment opportunities, has expanded to a new 40,000-square-foot campus, which is located at 9999 Richmond Avenue, Houston. The location recently underwent nearly $3.5 million in renovations and will accommodate the school’s approximately 1,400 students and eight degree and non-degree programs.
"This new building will support our most successful programs with larger labs and additional labs are designed specifically for our school," said James Garrett, president of the campus. "We owe our continued success to our ongoing commitment to providing our students with hands-on education using industry-current facilities and equipment."
Sanford-Brown is also introducing the Simpro Virtual Trainer™ on its campuses nationwide, including Houston, that offer imaging programs in cardiovascular sonography and diagnostic medical sonography. Sanford-Brown partnered with New Zealand-based SIMTICS, a leader in virtual simulation technology for healthcare education, and co-developed this product to improve learning outcomes and help students confidently meet the high standards of the healthcare industry.
The Simpro Virtual Trainer is intended to enhance and complement existing, proven training methods inside the classroom and at clinical sites. It will provide a convenient and effective way for students to gain experience with key clinical procedures at any time. An online video is available at www.sanfordbrown.edu.
The Simpro Virtual Trainer breaks down each clinical procedure into its component steps, requiring students to make decisions about what to do next, which instrument to use and where to apply it. It will make procedures more accessible, helping students gain and retain critical information without being solely dependent on patient cases during their clinical experience.
An additional consideration was the accessibility to public transportation. There are two bus stops on the property and it is a short distance to additional bus lines. For information on enrollment, class schedules, etc. please visit http://www.sanfordbrown.edu/Houston.
