SBI-Tampa Veterinary Technology ACT Service Learning Event

Sanford Brown Tampa Veterinary Technology Service Learning EventSunday 11/10/13 Our Veterinary Technology Program had its first Service Learning Event! Dr. Smok and Stephanie Hayes went to ACT (Animal Coalition of Tampa), for their monthly spay day. The second Sunday of every month ACT, with the help of volunteers, takes in feral cats caught around Tampa to Spay/neuter, vaccinate, and treat medical concerns. They took in around 100 cats this day and for our contribution we performed around 20 surgeries. A very rewarding experience, albeit a tiring one. Dr. Smok enjoyed being back doing Veterinary work, and for Stephanie it was a great introduction to this field and program, and she did an exceptional job. Dr. Smok will try and make this a regular event, when Schedule allows.
