SBI Pittsburgh Students Participate in Give Back Week

On October 20, 2011, Sanford-Brown Pittsburgh Anesthesia Technology students along with members of CORE hosted organ donation awareness tables at Monroeville Mall and at the Sanford-Brown Health Fair on campus handing out literature and talking with members of the community about organ donation. They signed up 15 organ donors. Every organ donor can save 8 lives, therefore 120 lives may be saved from this effort!
On October 19 & 20th Sanford-Brown Institute Pittsburgh Medical Assistant and Massage Therapist students performed blood pressure readings and chair massages on community participants as part of the Allegheny Conference Health Ministry at the Wesley Center promoting healthy living. The event was part of Sanford-Brown’s second annual Give Back Week.
On October 20, 2011 Sanford-Brown Institute Pittsburgh Anesthesia Technology, Dialysis Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Massage Therapist, Medical Assistant and Veterinary Technology students hosted a Health Fair at the campus. They had many activities and vendors including blood pressure and BMI screenings, chair massages, healthy snacks, vein scans, chiropractic screenings, smoking cessation, kidney disease and cancer awareness, ultrasound awareness, organ donation awareness and animal toxicology. Outside Vendors included CORE, Beaver Valley Foot Clinic, Inevo body contouring, Cutitta Chiropractic, and a special appearance by KISS 96.1 radio.
