Two exciting new paths to opportunities in healthcare

Sanford-Brown - San Antonio has expanded its healthcare programs to offer students two very different paths to a career as a healthcare professional. Now you can turn one day into day one of making a difference in your life and the lives of others in the field of Dialysis Technology or Pharmacy Technology.

Dialysis Technology is a career that will get you close to the patient as they undergo life-prolonging treatment when their kidneys can no long perform essential functions. Dialysis Technicians are an important part of the medical team. They are the patient’s primary caretaker during the hours-long procedures that remove waste and excess fluids from the blood and keep electrolytes in balance. The role of Dialysis Technician is a highly responsible one that requires the ability to operate and maintain high-tech dialysis equipment and monitor the patient’s condition during treatment.

If you’d enjoy interacting with patients as a trusted professional, but aren’t interested in being involved in medical procedures or hands-on treatment, Pharmacy Technology offers a different way to help people. Pharmacy Technicians work with Pharmacists to fill and dispense prescriptions to the exact specifications of the physician. It requires high attention to detail as mistakes could be life threatening. Our Pharmacy Technology program also covers inventory and billing, maintaining patient records and pharmacy computing, which are other things the job may entail. It’s a great time to start training because opportunities for Pharmacy Technicians are growing, with an expected increase of 32% from now to 2020.
