Work Experience:
Dr. Jones serves as a consultant, establishing nursing programs throughout the Sanford-Brown Colleges and Institutes. She has worked for more than 35 years in academic and health care administration positions. Dr. Jones has held executive positions in complex health care systems and institutions of higher education. She has held faculty appointments and taught at the undergraduate and graduate level since 1990 and as a full professor with tenure in the Texas A&M University system and Health Science Center. She is the immediate past Chancellor for the West Suburban College, in Oak Park, Illinois. The College is a recipient of the 2003 Lincoln Bronze Award for Commitment to Performance Excellence, a state Baldrige award. Dr. Jones is also an LTC, US. Army retired.
Scholarship and Recognitions:
Dr. Jones has a long history of involvement with professional organizations. She is a Systems Appraiser and Action Project reviewer for the Academic Quality Improvement Program of the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association (HLC,NCA), 2005 – present. She served on the Baldrige Board of Examiners for the Baldrige National Quality Program (BNQP), 2009. She is the Immediate past President, Council on Graduate Education for Administration in Nursing (CGEAN), past President of the American Health Sciences Education Consortium (AHSEC) and past Director for the Board of the Illinois Institute of Independent Colleges and Universities.
Dr. Jones has published numerous articles in the “International Journal of Human Caring” “Journal of Nursing Administration", "Nurse Advisor", "Nursing Times", "Holistic Nursing Practice", "Nursing Administration Quarterly", and "Hospital Physician" concerning nursing administration and education. She is the editor of two textbooks Decision Making in Nursing and Leadership and Management Theories, Processes and Practice.
Presentation topics have included research on collaboration, health care, and academic administration topics. Key audiences have included the , International Nursing Administration Research Conference,, International Association for Human Caring, American Organization of Nurse Executives, Tri-service International Nurse Leadership Conference, Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors, the Higher Learning Commission, a member of the North Central Association, National Council of State Boards of Nursing, American Association of Colleges of Nursing, American Public Health Association, local universities and health care systems, and local Sigma Theta Tau Research conferences.
Dr. Jones’s program of research concerning multidisciplinary collaboration and care outcomes was presented at the November 2009, International Nursing Administration Research conference in Baltimore, MD.
