For the SBC Grand Rapids campus summer time is the time to pull all stops out and take full advantage of summer fun. With year-round sessions a day filled with lots of cool things to do is an opportunity for students to unwind and chill out. Student Appreciation Day 2012 was that one day; a fun day and great hit for the campus community.
There were planned activities for everyone hosted by the various departments to include a Petting Zoo, Cake Walk, Face Painting and Doppler Demos. Also on the scene were the YWCA’s Healthy Living Veggie Van with fresh fruits and vegetables for purchase and Goodwill Industries with a promotional retail offering for students. So LIVE and Hyped with WSNX remote broadcast plugs. Delicious treats and eats topped off the day’s affair. A special shout out to visiting students with Girls Inc. and Gerald R Ford Job Corps Medical Assistant Program for joining the fun.
This day a mix of fun and celebration was also a day of giving. Funds from the Bail Out and Dunk Tank raised $54.00 in just one hour! Donations made to the CESF fund was a way for everyone, especially students to give back in a fun way. Not only were there monetary contributions; students collectively donated more than 12 inches of cut hair to Locks of Love (a charity for disadvantage children suffering long-term medical hair loss).
This day was all for the good of giving back and a special thank you to Lisa Migenes the Campus Student Service Advisor for coordinating this wonderful day.
