RMHC & Sanford-Brown celebrates the 300th Ronald Mcdonald House

Located in St. Louis, more than 720 families a night can rest a little easier at a Ronald McDonald House!

The 20-bedroom Ronald McDonald House on the campus of St. John’s Children’s Hospital will offer comfort to 720 additional families a year and it took a village of support, advocacy, and thought-through plans to build it:

  • 22 RMHC staff members
  • 472 architects, engineers, construction workers and subcontractors
  • 208 donors and fundraisers
  • 25 Board members steering the process
  • 30 Capital Campaign Committee Members
  • A medical professional named Kathleen Thorman who rallied the rest of the medical community at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center to make sure that the new House was built on their campus.
  • Countless families who knew the power of RMHC programs and became advocates for a Ronald McDonald House in the West County of St. Louis.

Melissa Mangold, president of Sanford-Brown Fenton, has been a member of the PR and Marketing Committee for RMHC, and she participated in all the opening week activities. Surrounding the opening of the house was a Media Day, a Gala and the Ribbon Cutting. The Gala was on Tuesday evening and it was a huge event. Pictured from the evening are: Melissa, Tina Seidel (Hazelwood), Lisa Mancini (St. Peters) and Doug Goodwin (Collinsville) with Ronald McDonald (in his yellow tux). Sanford Brown and Missouri College were also recognized as Platinum sponsors of the event.

September 29 was the ribbon cutting and luncheon and then the house was open to the public for tours.  Several local news stations were there and Melissa helped tour visitors around the house. The events of last week were a great demonstration of our schools’ support of RMHC!
