SBI-Ft Lauderdale Assists with Haiti Relief Effort

May 17, 2010 SBI-Fort Lauderdale 0 Comments

During the week of Jan. 18, Sanford Brown Institute - Ft. Lauderdale asked for donations from students, faculty and staff to assist with the relief effort following the earthquake in Haiti on Jan. 12. To date, $850 has been raised on behalf of The American Red Cross. Additionally, over 1000 pounds of clothing, water, baby formula, medical supplies and other essentials have been donated. Some of the clothing was passed along to the Ronald McDonald House of Ft. Lauderdale to give to the Haitian families that are being housed there while they receive medical care and await permanent housing and other aid they require. The outpouring of support from students, alumni and staff has been overwhelming and SBI - Ft. Lauderdale is currently exploring the best option to donate the remaining items and ensure they assist those who have been impacted by the earthquake in Haiti.
