On March 17th, 2011, Sanford-Brown Institute, Iselin launched its third service learning activity by partnering with the Arthritis Foundation located in Iselin, NJ. Nicole Lewis, Fundraising Facilitator spoke to the Medical Billing and Coding and Massage Therapy students regarding the disease. After gaining the attention and excitement of the students, Nicole initiated a service learning project. Students will assist in raising awareness by participating in a health screening, as well as, raising awareness at other various locations, community events, including Edison Day (May 1st, 2011). One of Sanford -Brown Institute’s Iselin Alumni, Hector Cruz, currently working at Carteret Comprehensive Medical Associates, is responsible for spearheading one of the health screenings at the Perth Amboy Community Event being held on June 11, 2011 (we are so very proud of him). We have also arranged to have a group of walkers at the upcoming Arthritis foundation walk on May 22, 2011. Way to go, Iselin!
