On Friday, February 18, 2011, Sanford Brown College took about 15 volunteer students to the 20th Annual Cleveland Homeless Stand Down located in the Masonic Temple on Euclid Ave downtown Cleveland.
From February 8th to February 16th, our students donated coats, blankets, and other winter gear including hats, gloves, mittens and scarves to donate to those in need for the Homeless Stand Down.
Our volunteers did research on hypothermia and frostbite causes, symptoms and prevention and made boards for our boot. They educated homeless people as they walked through our booth to get a coat or blanket. Our volunteers took blood pressures, too. They served meals and referred other services that were available to them.
Every student agreed that this was a truly amazing experience!
