Today's healthcare system is constantly changing to provide the best care to patients and offer the latest advances in medicine. Technology plays a major role in healthcare. Technology has contributed to healthcare in many different ways. The instruments and equipment used in everyday medical procedures have become more efficient and safer over the years. Procedures deemed impossible only decades ago are now being performed daily in hospitals with minimal risk. Technology is constantly advancing the manner in which doctors, surgeons and other medical staff care for sick or injured patients.

One huge technological leap in healthcare is the use of radiography. Radiography is the use of X-rays to view unseen or difficult to image objects. With the use of radiography, doctors and physicians can examine the interior of a patient's body to identify health concerns like broken bones, tumors and more. Radiography has come a long way since first being used in healthcare in the late 1800's. Today's radiographers, through the use of more sophisticated equipment and film, are able to capture much higher quality images and to enhance those images using computers for a more accurate diagnosis.

Radiologic Technologists
As radiography continues to advance current healthcare procedures, trained radiographers will be needed to perform these procedures. Radiography machines use radiation which when done in access or improperly can be damaging to ones health. Thus highly trained technicians that are extremely knowledgeable in safely operating radiography equipment are necessary.
