The Surgical Technology faculty and students were in attendance dressed in their scrubs and lab coats to show their support of the proposed NJ CST Bill. The students were acknowledged by both the Assembly and Senate Committee Chairs and members.
The students were present in chambers to listen to testimony and observe proceedings before the Assembly (Regulated Professions Committee) & Senate (Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens). The students were asked by Senator Weinberg to describe the duties of a Surgical Technologists.
Surgical Technology student Jacqueline James stated, “We learned about democracy and legislation as well as became a contributor as a surgical technologist”.
The students felt it was a wonderful learning experience for both them as well as our NJ legislators. Both committees approved the bill for a vote by the full Assembly and full Senate.
