Sanford-Brown College-Dearborn hosted a Bone Marrow Drive

July 25, 2011 General 0 Comments

SBC Dearborn- Sanford-Brown College Dearborn hosted a Bone Marrow Drive on June 22, 2011.  SBC Dearborn collaborated with Be the Match Foundation which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating an opportunity for all patients to receive the bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant they need, when they need it.  Thousands of patients depend on Be The Match Registry to find a donor who can give them a second chance at life.

Sanford-Brown students were successful in registering 89 potential donors.  This service learning opportunity enabled students to not only register potential donors but to educate the public on the importance of joining the registry.  The results of the drive were so favorable that Sanford-Brown Dearborn was asked to participate in a Bone Marrow Drive with Be The Match on a quarterly basis.
