Sanford-Brown Institute – White Plains Celebrates Largest Graduation Yet

On June 11, 2010, Sanford-Brown Institute – White Plains held the largest graduation in school history at the Westchester County Center. Over 350 graduates marked the completion of their studies.
President Rolando Manna welcomed more than 1,500 friends, family and guests and urged the graduates to continue to grow and develop as professionals and to stay in touch with the school.
Three graduating students spoke on behalf of their classs. Amy Tiso represented Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound, Lisabel Sororro represented Cardiovascular Technology and Patricia Becker spoke for the Medical Assisting students.
The graduates and guests also heard from alumna Anita Rebo, a 2007 graduate, who spoke about the transforming nature of a Sanford-Brown education. Ms. Rebo told the story of how she came to the United States as a war refugee, unable to speak English, who went from being a $5.15 an hour hotel housekeeper, to learning English, to now working at High Risk OB/GYN Columbia Eastside where she works with some of the nation’s top doctors. “These people are internationally renowned, and the fact that I work side by side with such prestigious minds in modern obstetrics seems surreal” she said. She also reminded the graduates “there are no limits. And you, every one of you, can go as far as you want to. If you keep working hard and if you keep your dream alive, there is no obstacles large enough to hold you back.”
After the conferral of the certificates, the acting Dean of Education, Michelle Lambert, herself a 1993 graduate of the school, administered the Medical Creed followed by an enthusiastic round of applause.
At the end of the ceremony, graduates streamed into the glorious late spring evening, greeted by hundreds of families and friends. They had a wonderful evening.
