Sanford-Brown Institute-Tampa has been awarded second place in the 2012 Making Strides Award in the Top Campus category and was given the Bronze Strider award for raising more than $3,000 for American Cancer Society. The honors were presented at an awards dinner on 11/15.
Students from six different academic programs comprised the school’s individual teams and the entire campus participated in fundraising efforts, which included bake sales, chance drawings and themed dinners. All teams were represented at the walk on Saturday, October 20th.
Sanford-Brown has a long tradition of giving back to its communities, both in and out of the classroom. Throughout their training, students are encouraged to apply their clinical knowledge to real-world situations. They take part in a variety of service learning projects to help prepare them to become caring professionals and give back to the communities in which they live and learn.
These programs allow students to take their classroom skills and knowledge into the community to address health concerns. In 2012, Sanford-Brown students in the Tampa campus have contributed more than 1700 hours of service to their community, and Sanford-Brown is excited to continue contributing to the Tampa community.
