SBI-Cranston holds United HealthCare Health Fair Service Learning Event

On November 18, 2011 SBI Cranston Medical Assisting students participated in The United HealthCare Healthy Holidays Fair that took place at South Providence Neighborhood Ministries. Under the direction of Abigail Baker and Dr. Harvey Schneider, students conducted blood pressure screenings, as well as height, weight, BMI and vision screenings.
Nancy Figueroa, Community Outreach Specialist from United Healthcare became aware of Sanford Brown’s Service Learning Program when she met Pharmacy Technology students who were presenting “Dangers of Commonly Misused Household Items” at Cranston Family Safety Day this past summer.
Ms. Figueroa contacted Sanford Brown to inquire about students performing health screenings and presenting wellness topics at their monthly health fairs. Sanford Brown students proudly accepted the assignment, and are now scheduled with United HealthCare through March 2012!!!
