For more than 40 years, Project Healthy Living has offered free or low cost health screenings to individuals 18 and older. This year SBC Dearborn was chosen as one of the sites to host the event. The health fair attracted more than 200 visitors from the community that were able to benefit from the screenings. The free services offered included screenings for height and weight, blood pressure, vision, glaucoma, cholesterol, glucose, and diabetes screening through the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. In addition to the screenings, BCCCP (Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer Control Program) distributed certificates to women over 40 without insurance to receive free mammograms and pap tests, and mobile dentists administered free teeth cleanings. Also, over 30 vendors provided free healthcare and public service information.
Over 100 SBC Dearborn students volunteered and performed service learning at the health fair. A participating MA student commented “It feels so good to be able to give back to the community using my skills learned at Sanford-Brown.”

Welcome to your future. Welcome to Sanford-Brown.
