Health Screenings, Dental Health Tips and EMT & Wellness Presentations Were Popular
Sanford-Brown Institute – Monroeville joined UPMC, the American Heart Association, Central Blood Bank and numerous other community partners for a free community health fair on the Sanford-Brown campus. Students, faculty, staff and community leaders provided free screenings including blood pressure, bone density, vision, plus dental health education, smoking cessation tips, even EMT practices and massages. The health fair gave the community access to tests, information and tips they may not have had previously because of time or the economy.
“We wanted to give back to the Pittsburgh community and give them one place where they could come for a variety of health information, at no charge,” said Tom Contrella, President, Sanford-Brown Institute – Monroeville.
“Community outreach on health is a key for our school and this event gave our entire campus the opportunity to work with the Monroeville community in a hands-on, extremely positive way.”
The event was so well received Sanford-Brown Institute is already working with community partners and planning another free health fair later this year.
