SBC-Phoenix Gives Back on Give Back Day

October 20, 2010, Sanford-Brown College-Phoenix will be holding our First Annual Give Back Day!
Activities occurring on various campuses include blood and bone marrow drives, general health screenings, vision screenings, athletic screenings, and pet screenings. Activities that students and faculty will participate in off-campus include volunteering at nursing homes, shelters, food banks and clinics.
- Free Vitals Checks provided by students
- Flu shots provided to community as part of a partnership with Safeway
- Flu shots would be sponsored by Safeway Stores, Inc. There will be a regular shot (containing H1N1 as well) and a high dose shot for Seniors
- Safeway will also provide grocery coupons and/ or gift certificates as well as some small “giveaways” (i.e. pens, chip bag clips, magnets etc.)
- Flu shots are only available to persons OVER the age of 18 years old
- Safeway will accept both Medicare and AHCCCS plans for those who have them. There would be little($1, $3, $5) or no cost to this population
- Safeway will have a list of insurances that they will accept. Based on the insurance plan, the co-pay would vary ($10-$20)
- Persons with NO INSURANCE would be offered the Flu shots at a cost of $28 for the regular shot, and $57 for the high dose shot
- This Flu shot clinic will be offered in conjunction with free vital signs monitoring (blood pressure etc.)
- Interactive “Candy vs. Medicine” workshops available for children
Students will have the opportunity to help provide vital services to those in need. Volunteer a few hours of your time – it can make a big difference to our communities, and to you!
