Work Experience:
23 years teaching experience at different universities in the Middle East and the US, in addition to 10 years of consulting services to public and private sectors. Also ran family businesses for more than 15 years.

Shelly Zimbelman
Title/Position:
Director of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Educational Background:
A.S. in Business Administration, Troy University; Certificate in Radiography, Rolla Technical Institute; Completing B.S. in Radiologic Sciences, University of Nebraska Medical Center; Registered with the American Registry for Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography and Computed Tomography; Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and hold the credentials of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) and Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
Work Experience:
Sixteen years of experience in the Radiologic Science field to include general radiology procedures, computed tomography and 3-D reconstruction, abdominal and small parts sonography, vascular sonography, general obstetrics and perinatal sonography and cardiac sonography. Firstly, I worked in a rural hospital that was the first hospital in a fifty mile radius to obtain a helical computed tomography machine back in the 1990’s. Secondly, while working for six years in perinatal sonography I was the educator for the department. I was in charge of training the OB residents on basic sonography skills and developed a program to streamline this process and give them a grading scale to critique their progress and skill competency; We were the first stand alone OB lab that was granted this accreditation in all of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The biggest advancement however in the medical field during my employment there came with the first Women’s Imaging conference in the Southwest Region being coordinated by me and it was a huge success and has since become a yearly event at the University.
What I teach at Sanford-Brown:
Ultrasound Physics I and II, Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation, Basic Ultrasound Scanning Techniques, Scanning of the Neck and Duplex Imaging, Abdomen I and II, Female Reproduction, Obstetrics and Reproduction.

Work Experience:
I became registered with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) in 1984 and began my career as a Medical Assistant (MA). Throughout the first ten years of my career, I worked for various physicians in the St. Louis area. Later, I became an Allied Health Instructor through the AMT. I currently am the MA Program Director at Sanford-Brown College (SBC) where I have been teaching for the last fourteen years.
