SBC-Dallas Gives Back on Give Back Day
October 20, 2010
Sanford-Brown College-Dallas will be holding our First Annual Give Back Day on October 20th, 2010! Our campus will participate in our second Meals on Wheels activity with the local Visiting Nurse Association. The campus will organize teams of two including faculty, staff and students and deliver on 20 different routes that morning. Each route services 12 – 15 homes and accounts for 1-2 meals for those individuals. Students will have the opportunity to help provide vital services to those in need. Volunteer a few hours of your time – it can make a big difference to our communities, and to you!
All volunteers report to the Visiting Nurse Association on 1440 West Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas 75247. Arrival time is 9am and the routes will take each team approximately 3 hours to complete. The team then regroups at the VNA for a final close out and then returns to the campus.
Join us as volunteers and faculty from all 6 programs offered at the school including MA, MBC, PT, CVS, DMS and ST are represented. Students from MA, MBC, PT, CVS and ST are represented in this round of volunteers as well.

Betsy Cox, from Meals on Wheels, informed the campus that this effort alone saves them nearly $1000 in costs for just our one day of volunteer work. Our routes are located in areas that we have identified the greatest need. Many of the individuals we see on that morning will not have other human contact for the rest of the week. SBC-Dallas is excited to provide this service to our local community and continues to schedule this event 3-4 times per year with full staff and student involvement!
