Central Service and Sterile Processing Technician
Central Processing Technicians and Sterile Technicians process and sterilize equipment and supplies from the operating suites and nursing units of hospitals. They are trained to clean, sterilize and prepare equipment for patient use in various areas of the facilities.
They may also be involved in preparing special packages of equipment for specialty procedures such as angiograms and heart valve replacements. Central Supply is also the main inventory storage area of the hospital and technicians are responsible for processing and storing the equipment and instrumentation so that it is available as needed. Upon completion of the program students can expect to find employment in hospitals and various outpatient surgical centers.
