Award recognizes Sanford-Brown Institute and its students for their high-level of achievement compared to ACCSC-accredited schools across the country
MONROEVILLE, PA (October 14, 2009) – The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) has given the Sanford-Brown Institute Monroeville campus (SBI-Monroeville) the 2008-2009 ACCSC School of Excellence Award. The award recognizes the high-level of achievement among Sanford-Brown's students and the school's commitment to quality education. The commission granted only 35 schools nationwide with this honor during its 2008-2009 fiscal year and SBI-Monroeville was one of only 5 schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to receive it.
"This award is a testament to our hard-working and successful students as well as our dedicated faculty and staff," stated Thomas Contrella, President of SBI – Monroeville. "We are honored and excited about this recognition."
In order to qualify for the School of Excellence Award, a school must meet ACCSC's expectations for accredited institutions seeking renewal of accreditation, and demonstrate that a majority of graduation and employment rates from all offered programs meet or exceed the average rates among all ACCSC-accredited institutions. An ACCSC School of Excellence Award acknowledges schools with a commitment to the rigors of accreditation, as well as efforts in maintaining high-levels of achievement among their students.
ACCSC, recognized by the United States Department of Education as a private, non-profit, independent accrediting agency, is dedicated to ensuring a quality education for more than 200,000 students who annually pursue career education at more than 800 ACCSC accredited institutions. ACCSC's mission is to serve as a reliable authority on educational quality and to promote enhanced opportunities for students by establishing, sustaining, and enforcing valid standards and practices which contribute to the development of a highly trained and competitive workforce through quality career oriented education. SBI – Monroeville successfully completed the accreditation process and was reviewed by the Commission at its February 2009 meeting.
