SANFORD-BROWN INSTITUTE – PITTSBURGH HOLDING PET FOOD DRIVE FOR LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY

WHAT:
Each year the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society takes in more than 13,000 animals in need and they depend on community donations to feed and care for these pets. That is why the students and faculty of Sanford-Brown Institute (SBI) – Pittsburgh’s Veterinary Technology program are coming together to collect dog and cat food to support the Society.

They will be collecting canned or dry food for dogs and cats at their campus located in downtown Pittsburgh on the corner of 7th and William Penn Place.  The largest need is for puppy and kitten food but donations for all dog and cat types will be accepted. The donations will help feed dogs and cats residing at the Humane Society waiting to be adopted as well as supporting Ellie’s Pet Pantry.  The Pet Pantry was established by the Humane Society during recent tough economic times in an effort to prevent families from surrendering their pets to animal shelters because they can’t afford to feed them. The Pantry supplies pet food to members of the local community with hungry pets.

The SBI - Pittsburgh veterinary technology program prepares students to support veterinarians by taking patient histories, assisting in surgery, performing dental prophylaxis, drawing blood for testing and many other duties.
