Sanford-Brown Institute Hosts "Ryan’s Quest" Walkathon
Campus joins with community to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy research
Iselin, NJ – Sanford-Brown Institute (SBI) – Iselin will host its third annual walkathon to benefit muscular dystrophy research on Thursday, August 19. The event will kick off at 12 noon at Grove 1 of the Roosevelt Field (in Edison, New Jersey) and is open to the public. Since 2008, more than 600 walkers have participated in this event, raising $21,000. The goal is to increase public participation in support of local nonprofit Ryan’s Quest.
Students and faculty from SBI – Iselin will help raise a projected $11,000 for Ryan’s Quest through this year’s event. Area residents are encouraged to join the SBI team in raising funds and building awareness for Ryan’s Quest.
Ryan’s Quest is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 by David and Maria Schultz after learning of their two-year old son’s diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD is the most common lethal, genetic disorder diagnosed during early childhood. It affects one out of every 3,500 boys.
