Sanford-Brown College Marks One-Year Anniversary in Dearborn Community
November 23, 2010
Campus currently has nearly 500 students working toward degrees and diplomas in the health care field
DEARBORN, Mich. (November 23, 2010) – Sanford-Brown College (SBC) - Dearborn is celebrating its one-year anniversary. The campus opened its doors on November 23, 2009 as Sanford-Brown Institute but has since changed its name to Sanford-Brown College to reflect the State of Michigan’s decision to give the campus authority to confer associate degrees in addition to the diplomas offered. Today, the campus has nearly 500 students working toward diplomas in medical assistant and medical billing and coding programs, and associate degrees in cardiovascular sonography.
“We are thrilled to celebrate our first year of providing our students with a strong educational foundation for seeking careers in the health care field,” said Sanford-Brown College - Dearborn President Roger Hosn. “We look forward to achieving many more milestones in the years to come.”
In its first year, SBC - Dearborn grew its enrollment from an initial 27 students to the current 500 and has graduated its first class. The campus also expanded its course offerings to include the cardiovascular sonography program and has just launched a diagnostic medical sonography program. Both are associate degree programs and run 70 and 80 weeks.
The Dearborn campus is also one of the more than 20 Sanford-Brown health schools across the country that in October began incorporating Pegasus products into the curriculum as part of a collaborative relationship with Pegasus Lectures Inc. The new partnership offers a unique approach to physics instruction, review and exam preparation at the Sanford-Brown locations that offer imaging programs.
Sanford-Brown College - Dearborn will host an on-campus admissions open house event on Saturday, December 4, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the campus, meet with an admissions representative for a one-on-one presentation and observe hands-on clinical presentations. The campus will also provide refreshments and opportunity drawings. All interested community members are invited and encouraged to attend.
Established in Illinois in 1866, Sanford-Brown has one of the longest tenures of any business education institution in the United States. Today, Sanford-Brown and its affiliated schools currently have more than 28,000 students enrolled.
