Sanford-Brown Fashion Merchandising Students To Present Fashion Show
November 1, 2009
ST. LOUIS, MO (November 1, 2009) – A young crowd, rap music, hip fashions, and runway models. It may sound like a Madison Avenue event, but the third annual Fashion Merchandising Association fashion show takes place in Hazelwood and features 50 outfits put together by fashion merchandising students at Sanford-Brown College. This year's show is titled "Take a Walk in My Shoes." It is described as a melting pot in fashion from the urban streets to the suburbs.
The event, to be held November 21, gives students the opportunity to learn how to plan and produce a fashion show. More than 100 people are expected to attend. The show promotes local models, designers, entertainers, boutiques and national retail stores. It includes acting, music, dancing, singing, and rapping.
"Our mission is to create a learning opportunity for our students as well as to provide networking opportunities to help them as they begin their careers," said Jennifer Ingram, Fashion Merchandising Program Director at Sanford-Brown College. "The students really look forward to this event and work hard to make it a success."
Ingram created the Fashion Merchandising Association in 2006 to help promote the fashion industry in St. Louis and to help fashion merchandising students better understand how the fashion industry works.
The fashion show involves partnerships with retail and industry-related professionals. The clothing is provided by the following retail sponsors: H&M, Marshalls, Lee J. Fashions, Catwalk Fashions, Darnell's Clothing, and WUTU Fashions. Other sponsors are Swagg City University (DJ), and Just For Her Photos.
