Atlanta
Advanced Massage Therapy
The state of Georgia requires massage therapists be licensed in order to practice in the state. Passage of the NCBTMB certification exam is one of the requirements for state licensure. SBC does not control state licensure in Georgia or in any other state, and cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to work as massage therapists in Georgia or any other state, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.
Pharmacy Technician
The state of Georgia does not require pharmacy technicians to be registered/licensed or PTNB-certified in order to practice in the state. Radiography
In Ohio, radiographers are required to carry a state license in order to practice. Since the SBC Radiography program is approved by the Ohio Department of Health, graduates of the Radiography program are eligible to apply for the state radiographer license examination without being ARRT certified. All state licensure/registration requirements are controlled by the individual states and are subject to change without notice to SBC. Therefore, SBC cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to work as a radiographer in Ohio or in any other state without ARRT certification and/or a state license/registration, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.

As of September 2009, to be employed as a surgical technologist in Texas, you must graduate from an accredited program and hold and maintain appropriate certification. The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification is obtained by graduating from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited program and passing the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certified Surgical Technologist certification exam. There is a six-month grace period during which a recent graduate of an accredited surgical technology program may practice surgical technology. Certification may be obtained through a program approved by the law, such as the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, or approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Dearborn
Veterinary Technology
The Veterinary Technology program at SBC is programmatically accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). This means that graduates of the program are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and the State of Michigan License Board Examination. The requirements for taking and passing the VTNE and the State Board examination are not controlled by SBC and are subject to change without notice. Therefore, SBC cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to take the VTNE or State Board examination, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment. Further, SBC does not control the state registration for veterinary technicians in Michigan or in any other state. Thus, SBC cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to work as veterinary technicians in Michigan or any other state, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.
Dialysis Technology
At this time, the state of Michigan does not require dialysis technicians to be registered/licensed/certified in order to practice as dialysis technicians in the state. However, certification and/or state licensure/registration may be required to practice in other states. Respiratory Therapy
In the state of Missouri, graduates must be licensed as respiratory care practitioners by the state to practice respiratory therapy. Passage of the CRT examination offered by the NBRC is required for state licensure in Missouri. Graduates of the program will then be required to pass the NREMT certification examinations in order to obtain state licensure as EMTs or Paramedics in Missouri. SBC, however, does not control the state licensure or NREMT requirements in Missouri or in any other state, and cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to work as emergency medical technicians paramedics in Missouri or any other state, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.
Bachelor's of Science Radiologic Technology
In Missouri, radiographers are not required by law to be certified by ARRT or licensed/registered with the state in order to practice. Proof of completion of a board-approved pharmacy technician-training program is required for registration. Applicants with certain fraud-based or drug-related felony convictions or guilty pleas, or incarceration or probation for such offenses in their background will likely not be eligible for registration as a pharmacy technician in Florida. Since SBI does not control state licensure/registration requirements in Florida or in any other state, SBI cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible for licensure/registration or to work as pharmacy technicians in Florida or any other state, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment. Medical Laboratory Technology
Graduates of Sanford-Brown College’s Medical Laboratory Technician program are eligible for and encouraged to take the Medical Laboratory Technician certification exam offered by American Medical Technologists (AMT) upon graduation. This credential is a nationally recognized voluntary certification that could enhance employment opportunities. The American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) also offers a certification exam. Houston’s Medical Laboratory Technician program is programmatically accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS). This means that current students can take the ASCP and NCA national certification exams for Medical Laboratory Technicians.

Nursing
The Nursing Program at Sanford-Brown Institute is currently Approved/Probationary status with the Florida Board of Nursing. This approved/probationary status is due to NCLEX-RN pass rates not meeting the criteria set by the FLBON. The approved/probationary status will remain active for 2012 and 2013. The status will not affect the student’s ability to complete course work and graduate from the program.
A student/graduate from a nursing program under approved/probationary status may sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) upon successful completion of curriculum requirements. However, state licensure requirements are not controlled by Sanford-Brown but by the individual states and are subject to change.
Dental Hygiene
Licensure and/or registration requirements are controlled by the individual states and are subject to change without notice. Additionally, a person shall not act as a pharmacy intern until that person is licensed by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy. An employer shall verify that a person is currently licensed as a pharmacy intern before the employer allows that person to act as a pharmacy intern. An applicant for licensure as a pharmacy technician trainee in Arizona must:
- Be of good moral character.
- Be at least eighteen years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma.
Pittsburgh
Anesthesia Technology
Licensure and/or registration requirements are controlled by the individual states and are subject to change without notice. Although Pennsylvania does not require anesthesia technicians to obtain state licensure and/or registration at this time, some states may require this. Massage Therapist
Effective January 1, 2011, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires massage therapists be licensed by the State Board of Massage Therapy in order to practice in the state. Passage of either an examination offered by the NCBTMB or the Massage and Bodywork Licensure Examination (MBLEx) offered by the Federation of State Boards of Massage Therapy is one of the requirements for state licensure. Radiographer
In Pennsylvania, radiographers must be either certified through ARRT to perform radiologic procedures or pass the ARRT certification exam offered through the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine (State Board) in order to practice in the state. While passage of the ARRT certification exam through the State Board will enable the graduate to practice in Pennsylvania, the graduate may not be able to practice in other states. Licensure/registration requirements are controlled by the states and are subject to change without notice. Dialysis Technology
At this time, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania does not require dialysis technicians to be registered/licensed/certified in order to practice as dialysis technicians in the state. Applicants with certain fraud-based or drug-related felony convictions or guilty pleas, or incarceration or probation for such offenses in their background will likely not be eligible for registration as a pharmacy technician in Florida. Since SBI does not control state licensure/registration requirements in Florida or in any other state, SBI cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible for licensure/registration or to work as pharmacy technicians in Florida or any other state, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment. All questions regarding eligibility for registration as a pharmacy technician in Florida should be directed to the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
Massage Therapy
The state of Florida requires massage therapists be licensed in order to practice in the state. Passage of either an examination offered by the NCBTMB or the Massage and Bodywork Licensure Examination (MBLEx) offered by the Federation of State Boards of Massage Therapy is one of the requirements for state licensure. Also, applicants with certain fraud-based or drug-related felony convictions or guilty pleas, or incarceration or probation for such offenses in their background will likely not be eligible for licensure as massage therapists in Florida. Applicants are responsible for determining whether their background will disqualify them from practicing as a massage therapist in Florida. SBI, however, does not control the state licensure or NREMT requirements in Pennsylvania or in any other state, and cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to work as emergency medical technicians paramedics in Pennsylvania or any other state, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.
Paramedic and EMT
After demonstrating successful completion of an approved curriculum, individuals wishing to work in the paramedic field must achieve passing scores on the certification examination administered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Individuals who pass the certification examination are eligible for licensure by the State Office of Emergency Medical Services – County of Bucks, Department of Emergency Health Services.
